Collection 030.25: A Letter From Katie
Dearly Beloved, I am thrilled to share the C1 2025 Collection,"Dearly Beloved," a collection that embraces life, love, and loss. This collection reflects my experiences and inspirations from a recent journey to Mexico, specifically the vibrant cities of Guadalajara and Oaxaca.
In November 2023, I found myself captivated by the lively colours that brought the streets and artworks of Mexico to life, particularly those by Chucho Reyes. These radiant hues have been woven into the palette of the Dearly Beloved collection. The spiritual elements I encountered—totems, relics, and charms - reflected a desire for health and protection. Symbols such as the eye, hand, heart, dog, star, breast, and rain deeply resonated with me and are thoughtfully integrated into our designs.
The theme of love is inspired by stories like Romeo and Juliet, capturing intense emotions and dramatic tales of love and conflict, reflecting a passionate romance in each piece. Loss is depicted through symbols such as daggers and funeral lilies, with references to Prince's "when doves cry.
"The dove, representing peace and hope, adds a touch of optimism. Our "Dearly Beloved" collection highlights include the Miracles Print, featuring charms like money, teeth, and a hand - symbols of health and protection inspired by Mexican Milagros and adapted for a modern aesthetic. The color palette draws from the vibrant artistry of Chucho Reyes and the dynamic streets of Guadalajara and Oaxaca. Our design elements capture the spiritual energy of Mexican churches and the protective charms omnipresent in these cities. We also draw inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet, blending Shakespearean drama with contemporary style.
The "Dearly Beloved" collection is a journey through vibrant colours, the intensity of love, and the depth of loss. Each piece is crafted to embody these elements, offering a balanced and thoughtful addition to your wardrobe. I can’t wait for you to explore the collection and discover pieces that resonate with your own experiences of life, love, and loss.
Love, Katie Kolodinski.
